New Megger Electrical Test Equipment catalogue for contractors
Megger has published a new and extensively updated version of its Electrical Test Equipment catalogue for contractors, which is a valuable aid in helping users to comply with the testing requirements prescribed by the 16th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations. The new catalogue particularly highlights products that have been introduced since the last edition. Among these are the LTW range of two-wire non-trip loop testers, MFT1552 multifuncti... [more]
IEC 61557 requirements for test equipment provide the user with safer installation testers
The tougher IEC 61557 requirements for test equipment provide the user with safer, more reliable and easier to use installation testers that deliver results in accordance with IEC 60364 (and its national equivalents). The change has been officially in force from 1st January 2007. Installation testers verify the safety of electrical installations in domestic, commercial and industrial applications. They are used to carry out tests to ensure th... [more]
Who tests the testers?
Proper testing of electrical installations in buildings is essential to ensure their safety. However, if the tests are performed with inaccurate instruments, the result is, in some ways, worse than no testing at all – incorrect measurements may create a false sense of security by indicating that all is well when, in fact, there are serious deficiencies. Because of this, electrical contractors are required to regularly check the accuracy of the... [more]
New AC Leakage Current Clamp Meter for non-invasive insulation resistance checks
Leakage currents can be an indicator of the effectiveness of insulation on conductors. High levels of leakage current may be present in circuits where either the insulation resistance is low, or electronic equipment with filters is used. Leakage currents can cause disruptions to the normal operation of equipment and installations. Fluke has introduced the Fluke 360 AC Leakage Clamp Meter, a rugged, lightweight, pocket-sized current clamp desi... [more]
Megger offers new test lead options for safety and convenience
To help electrical contractors carry out tests safely and conveniently, Megger is now offering a choice of fused test leads for instruments in its contractor range. Users can choose between leads with a 10A fuse, or GS38-compliant leads with a 500mA fuse. Fused test leads significantly reduce the hazards associated with short circuits via the instrument test leads which may occur during testing. They must, however, always be used in conjunctio...
