Omron acquires STI to become global leader in machine safety solutions free RSS news feed from the Electrical News Portal

Omron Corporation and Scientific Technologies Incorporated (STI) announce that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Omron will acquire STI’s safety product group.

This acquisition will give Omron the position of main global safety solution provider. With a complete offer of safety products like safety sensors, safety relay units, switches and presence monitoring devices, combined with integration services, Omron now offers a complete solution package for machine safeguarding. In addition, from its position as market leader in Asia, Omron is now strengthening its global market position with a leading market position in North America.

According to Roberto Maietti, European CEO of Omron, “This acquisition is a milestone for Omron towards an outstanding position in the global safety market. Omron is committed to focus on Quality, Environment and Safety. Therefore the establishment of a global network of competence and powerful product portfolios are key elements in this focus.”

In Europe, Omron’s local engineering and manufacturing capabilities will include additional safety services and products resulting from the STI acquisition. Located close to Stuttgart, Germany, Omron’s European safety activities are coordinated with local production, marketing and engineering of safety devices and solutions.
