RS and Omron partner to provide access to new Automation solutions (18/01/2007)
RS and Omron have combined their respective expertise in the fields of e-commerce and automation technology, in the formulation of a new web based product launch initiative. Omron will be the first manufacturer in the new RS brandshop, which helps make it easier for design, production and maintenance engineers to source the latest products and solutions from the best manufacturers.
The brandshop is a project arising from a paradox that the organisations could see developing in the market place – manufacturing needing to develop in areas such as reducing waste, minimising downtime and lowering the overall cost of ownership, yet key manufacturing personnel having less time to assimilate the benefits that automation technology has to offer in response to these pressures.
It was felt that any solution would need to:
* use multi-media channels to effectively select and choose the right product
* offer a richness of content
* give ease and speed of access, wherever and whenever required
Customers can now go on to the RS website and get information on the latest Omron technology, including technical features, and benefits illustrated with animated demonstrations. There will be quarterly updates of new Omron products on the brandshop from a broad range including Relays, Sensors, Drives, PLCs, HMIs, Process and Temperature Controllers.
