Moss Electrical Announces Strategic Alliance with Key Lighting Manufacturers Moss Electrical Announces Strategic Alliance with Key Lighting Manufacturers - news feed from the Electrical News Portal

The UK lighting industry has experienced substantial development over the past few years. The market saw growth of around 7% over the period 2003-2005 and was estimated to be worth around Ł1.4 billion in 2005. The majority of marketplace value is in luminaires and lighting control equipment.

The majority of growth has been seen in the non-domestic sector, where demand has benefited from increased government investment in major capital projects and private finance initiatives, in health and education sectors particularly. There has been an increase in demand for higher value products and growing sales of lighting controls and associated equipment.

Moss Electrical offers an all-inclusive collection of lighting solutions. These are supplied from the world’s leading manufacturers to provide electrical contractors with the effective lighting resources needed to accommodate growth throughout London and the South East.

The company has recently announced a strategic alliance with Osram, Thorn, Concord/Marlin, Aurora and JCC to exclusively supply their range of lighting solutions to the UK specification market. Moss Electrical’s Sales Director, Neil Gates, said:

“These partnerships bring many strengths and opportunities to both parties and clients. We believe the union will combine Osram, Thorn’s Concord/Marlin, Aurora and JCC’s technical capabilities and experience in the UK, with Moss Electrical’s strong market presence and dynamic service, to maximise market opportunities, produce new project concepts and meet customer’s needs through optimised product ranges.”

This alliance allows Moss to bring a wider choice to the electrical industry. Neil Gates continued: “Moss can offer clients an enhanced range of lighting products - domestic commercial and industrial and as a consequence provide total lighting solutions combined with comprehensive technical support. We endeavour to turn the ambitious lighting ideas and concepts of our clients into innovative project solutions. ”

A London based team of account managers reinforces its capability to manage the most demanding of projects. Neil Gates commented: “Our aim is to provide a service that delivers and presents specialist solutions that exceed our client’s expectations.”

Domestic

In support of domestic job requirements, Moss provides the JCC fireguard range of Halogen Downlights. Building regulations ‘Document B’ determines the ceiling type that is required for a building under construction. These ceiling types are designed to provide protection to the floor above in the case of a fire for the duration specified in the document. Using JCC’s Fireguard Downlights ensures that this specification is maintained even when downlights are installed in the ceiling.

Certain ceiling types employ different materials and construction. The JCC range of Fireguard Downlights has been tested for all individual ceiling constructions to give the developer a single product for the widest range of applications. The Linolite: Sylvania collection of downlights, shaverlights, mirror lights, cabinet lights and chess ceiling/wall mounted lights, are also available from Moss’ stock for immediate despatch.

Commercial

For commercial lighting applications, Moss supply Osram’s T8 and T5 Lumilux products. The Lumilux brand is renowned not only for outstanding colour rendering, but also for its impressive efficiency in terms of luminous efficacy and energy consumption.
Compared with conventional fluorescent lamps, LUMILUX offers:
• Better colour rendering: Ra 80-89 (instead of Ra 50-79 for basic lamps).
• Good colour rendering - throughout the entire colour spectrum.
This means that there is a considerable improvement in colour rendering. Illuminated objects appear in their natural colours, which is particularly important for shop lighting, for example, and also for high-quality lighting in the home. For particularly demanding applications, there is also LUMILUX DE LUXE, with its colour rendering index of Ra > 90.
The T8 (26mm diameter) and T5 (16mm diameter) triphosphor fluorescent lamps available at Moss, are suitable for a wide variety of applications. They are ideal as replacement lamps, but are also perfect for new installations and special requirements.

Ideal for background accent lighting, prestige buildings, offices, foyers, and showrooms are the Moss-Osram Powerball HCI ceramic metal halide lamps. High-pressure discharge lamps are characterised by their ability to produce extremely bright light from such small dimensions. The light is generated directly by an arc discharge. A continuous electrical discharge between the two electrodes causes the various filler materials in the discharge to luminesce. High-pressure discharge lamps also need special control gear to ignite and operate them.

Compared with previous HCI lamps with cylindrical ceramic arc tubes, POWERBALL HCI offers:
• New Spherical arc tube.
• Better lamp life.
• More distribution of light.
• Excellent colour stability.
Also available at Moss are the Thorn Punch, Diffusalux, Arrowslim and Omega array of fluorescent luminaries.

Industrial
To cater for the increasing demand of industrial lighting products throughout London and the South East, Moss offer a full portfolio of Thorn products including; Thorn Aquaforce, Piazza and Concavia luminaries and the powerful Thorn Sonpak floodlights. Now at Moss, is Thorn’s new all Polycarbonate Aquaforce II with a number of improved features. It is supplied with a seamless gasket which is set into a deeper channel in the canopy, which forms a highly effective IP65, seal against dust and moisture. Quick fix brackets are also available with tamper resistant toggles and ‘Connect’ versions for rapid electrical connection.

Electrical contractors can also choose from the Osram “Son 4Y Super” high pressure sodium discharge lamps, ideal for illuminating bridges, railways, major thoroughfares, tunnels and factories. Key features include:

• New technology which prevents gas leakage at the electrode.
• Improved high density ceramic, reducing sodium diffusion.
• Optimised support structure with patented shock absorber, which reduces failure due to shock or vibration.

Other well known product brands available at Moss include Aurora, Concord Marlin, Erco, Fitzgerald and Riegens.
