Energy Saving Timers reduce electric bill (27/08/2007)
Energy saving makes sound economical sense in light of legislation, such as the European Directive on Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control and the Climate Change Levy. Left to the control of occasional users electrical heaters are often left on when a room is not being used, unnecessarily adding to the electric bill and simply wasting valuable energy.
Use of Energy Saving Timers alleviates the problem of electrical appliances, such as heaters or ventilation systems, being left on continuously. They can provide significant energy savings over a relatively short period of time, particularly when used to control 3kW electric heaters, soon paying back the initial cost of the timers.
Electronic run-back timers from Elkay Electrical are easy to fit and program and quickly put the bill payer back in control of electrical devices such as heating, ventilation and lighting.
The electronic run-back timer allows an appliance to be powered for a set period of time and via an easy-to-read LED display clearly shows the user how much runtime is left remaining. Adjustable in 15 minute increments, the unit has a time range from 15 minutes up to 2 hours and an intelligent memory allows the timer to remember the last set time period.
It can handle a powerful 20 Amp output rating for heating, ideal to control immersion heaters and panel heaters, while it can also be used for ventilation fans and lighting. An On/Off button permits the user to cancel the timing period at any stage during operation, if required.
The units are compatible with 25mm deep single gang BS accessory plate. Other Energy Management Products available from Elkay Electrical include pneumatic and electronic timers, electronic PIR timers and electronic touch timers. They can be pre-set during installation, with run times ranging from 1 second up to 2 hours.
