Legrand supplies hi-tech door entry solution to South at Didsbury urban village (25/06/2006)
Didsbury Point is the redevelopment of a 30-acre brownfield site known to thousands as Withington Hospital, which merged with Wythenshawe Hospital in 2001. The site has been redeveloped by Countryside Residential as a mixed-use urban village with more than 400 new homes, a landscaped business park of 275,000 sq ft, and a 150-bedroom hotel and restaurant complex.
Legrand has supplied Countryside Properties with a hi-tech door entry solution for South at Didsbury Point. The gated city village, which comprises one and two bedroom apartments, two bedroom and three bedroom duplexes and three and four bedroom houses, features Legrand’s multi-block 8-wire digital audio door entry system in all apartments, block and home entrances, plus the main gates to the development.
With hands free handsets with satin aluminium surround and stylish monobloc stainless steel entrance panels, the Viva Voce Living system has a dual-function keypad with both calling (apartment) and coded door lock facilities, which means only one keypad is required instead of the regular two. And, due to its digital nature, additional functions, such as staircase lighting, concierge calling and lock release, can also be operated from the Viva Voce handset.
With only 8-core cable needed throughout the whole building installation is easy, while the capacity to interlink different blocks means apartments can be called from any entrance in the development.
“The 8-wire digital door entry system provides the perfect combination of style and performance to deliver an entry solution that enhances any home,” said Legrand’s Dave Watkins. “Its robust, yet attractive appearance and flexible nature means it is a favourite with homebuilders across the country.
Alan Carvin of main contractor’s ALTEX Security said, “Legrand’s video door entry systems are of a very high standard and we are always happy to specify them.”
