Gemma Lighting invest in new £100,000 LED Photometric Laboratory

UK LED lighting specialists Gemma Lighting have again expanded their R&D capabilities by investing in a new £100,000 purpose built LED photometric laboratory.

The new LED photometric laboratory is situated at Gemma’s UK head office in Portsmouth, Hampshire and contains a customised Radiant Zemax ProMetric Near-Field Measurement System (PM-NFMS).

The PM-NFMS, provided by Pro-Lite Technology, will provide Gemma Lighting with accurate on-site luminance distribution data, further enhancing product design at the company and assisting the Gemma Lighting development team.

Measuring brightness, colour and spectrum, the PM-FPMS system will capture complete images of each Gemma Lighting product in order to provide comprehensive information than cannot be obtained from more traditional spotmeter-based measurements alone.

The new system will enhance the production cycle at Gemma by reducing time taken in having new products tested off site, and with the NFMS’ ability to automatically produce IES files the new laboratory feature will also be used by the lighting design team to benefit Gemma Lighting customers.

The installation of the ProMetric System is another sign of Gemma Lighting’s continuing growth as the firm continues to break sales figures and expand its operation.
