This week is Big Energy Saving Week – a special event organised by the government, Citizens Advice, Energy Saving Trust, energy suppliers, charities and volunteer organisations to help people up and down the country save money on their energy bills.
The event runs through to Sunday 28th October and features events up and down the country promoting energy saving technology, techniques and advice designed to help consumers get through the cold winter months without being out of pocket.
Part of the week is also to highlight The Green Deal, another government initiative that aims to encourage home owners to upgrade the energy efficiency of their homes with funding assistance that launched this month.
It’s all with a view to lowering Britain’s carbon emissions as a whole and bringing the nation into line with the requirements of the Climate Change Act 2008, which states that by 2050 greenhouse gas emissions should be cut by at least 80%.
The incentive of The Green Deal is that users can avoid the capital expenditure required for energy-efficient home improvements by spreading the cost of the work over a period of time, making repayments through the savings in their energy bills.
This way of becoming more environmentally responsible is certainly catching on in business as well as the home, and it doesn’t just end with solar panels or loft and wall insulation either.
Vast savings can be made with regards to energy bills through lighting, which on average makes up 80% of companies’ energy bill costs.
LED lighting provides higher quality over longer periods, saving in both energy and maintenance costs whilst reducing carbon emissions and light pollution. In addition with recent advances in LED technology no location or landscape is out of reach, with car parks, streets, warehouses and offices all turning to this cleaner, more reliable lighting source.
And much like The Green Deal, methods of financing for UK businesses to make the switch to LED are also available, thanks to UK LED Lighting Manufacturers such as Gemma Lighting Limited.
Gemma Lighting Limited are offering UK companies a 'Green Lease' that allows business owners to overcome budget limitations and acquire the latest in energy saving technology.
So why not visit the Big Energy Saving Week website, go to an event near you and find out how you can go green with more cutting edge technologies designed to save you money. It could be more affordable than you think…
