New technical director for Total Electrical Training (16/04/2008)
Total Electrical Training has appointed former Air Force electronics specialist George Wilson as technical director. The appointment is in advance of publication of the 17th edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations.
Before joining Total Electrical Training, Wilson spent 24 years in the Royal Air Force. On leaving the Royal Air Force, he spent three years as a senior technical project manager at Lola Cars International, one of the oldest and largest manufacturers of high performance racing cars in the world. Wilson notched up some notable projects, whilst serving in the Royal Air Force, which included the roll out of the Mascot Mincomms, a specialised communications system for air traffic control operations. Wilson, who is married with two adult children, was closely involved in the deployment of projects that took him to sensitive areas throughout the Middle East and beyond, a quality which will doubtless serve him well in the electrical industry.
Wilson went onto to say, "I think there is definite scope for the electrical industry to raise its game in terms of the delivery of service to end users". He also commented, "I believe that this can be achieved with a much greater focus on training. There exists the opportunity for improved cooperation between Part P scheme providers and the awarding bodies, like City and Guilds, as witnessed by the impending introduction of new Part P qualifications," he continued.
"I'm really excited about my role at Total Electrical Training," enthused Wilson. "I think I can bring a wealth of experience that makes it possible for me to visualise how the company can develop its training services, embracing high levels of quality assurance. It's an exhilarating time to be involved in the electrical industry and, for me personally, I'm delighted to be involved with a forward thinking company".
Part of Wilson's role will be to oversee the introduction of the series of new 17th Edition qualifications from City & Guilds, as well as the other related qualifications, which are currently in the process of being accredited.
