REMO alerts Brandbank to the fault with its generator

When Brandbank’s backup generator failed recently, REMO issued an automatic warning to both Brandbank and UPS Systems, alerting them to the fault.

UPS Systems' remote monitoring solution REMO has saved the day for service provider Brandbank by alerting the company to a potentially catastrophic generator failure. REMO is a unique solution that provides remote monitoring for a range of equipment, including many types of UPS, generators and fuel cells. REMO provides real-time information so IT managers can monitor fuel levels in diesel generators, battery charge levels, system temperatures and overloads, as well as mains grid failures and other critical information, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It issues automatic alerts by SMS or email to notify users of any problems.

When REMO initially alerted UPS Systems to the fault with Brandbank's generator, it was hard to tell what was going on. However its engineers were able to run diagnostic tests and from the results infer that the emergency stop button had been pushed, rendering the generator inoperable.

"Had REMO not alerted us to the fault, our generator would have remained out of action. In the event of a power failure our systems would have been at risk, which could have an adverse effect for our customers and our equipment." said Jason Copsey, Systems Administrator at Brandbank.
