Oldfield Lighting in Skipton, North Yorkshire, has set-up national online sister company Ray as the first to combine high-quality, bespoke designs from the world's leading manufacturers while helping to protect the environment.

Ray combines high-quality and bespoke designs from the world's leading manufacturers such as Foscarini, Artemide, Flos and Vibia while helping to protect the environment through reduced power consumption. The Pipe range by Artemide was designed by Herzog and de Meuron and showcased in the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Ray's Managing Director, Richard Bell, said: "Ray is the first company in the UK to specialise in providing bespoke designer lighting which also offers the advantages of helping people reduce their carbon footprint. Despite the current economic climate we are continuing to grow and develop our business and see energy efficient products as the way forward in the lighting industry. When people think of low-energy lighting they automatically think of strange looking bulbs and lights that take a long time to come on and are quite dull."

"We have addressed this by offering solutions combining designs from the world's leading manufacturers with lights that give off the same amount of light, use less power and have a longer lamp-life. A typical energy efficient lamp will consume at least five times less power than its traditional equivalent yet still give the same light output, hence providing substantial cost savings."

"More and more people want to do their bit for the environment but there is absolutely no need to sacrifice on style when it comes to lighting because we have been able to source a wide range of high quality contemporary and traditional designs. An example of the quality of design can be seen in the Artemide Pipe which has been showcased in the Museum of Modern Art in New York."

Ray provides lighting for all aspects of homes, offices and other commercial buildings including both interior and exterior products.

"People want to be green and consume less power but still want their home or workplace to look attractive," added Richard. "We feel Ray will also be able to work very closely with architects and other specialists in the building industry because building regulations now require a significant proportion of lights in both private and commercial premises to be energy efficient."
