ELECSA has launched a new direct debit scheme for membership. Under the new instalment plan, existing members can spread the cost of their assessment fees and can even control how much they pay each month.

Business Development Manager for ELECSA, Sarah Needham, explained “we are all feeling the pinch from the credit crunch, and paying the assessment fee in one lump sum may be something that businesses find difficult to manage. By offering people the option to pay in instalments, it may help businesses with cash flow and budgeting.”

The scheme has been running on a trial basis since July 2008, and there are already 50 contractors signed up. ELECSA member Anthony Drew from Norfolk said “choosing to spread the membership payments helps with managing cash flow and is working very well for us.” Ian Hetherington from WLR Electrical in Cumbria agreed and added “not having to shell out for one big payment on an annual basis has been really helpful to the business.”

The scheme is easy to use with no additional cost to the contractor and the contractor can manage their payments through the ELECSA website, varying the amount they pay each month or even taking a payment holiday if they need to. All that ELECSA ask is that the assessment fee is fully paid one month before it is due. This is on top of the fact that ELECSA’s assessment fee of £360+vat is already one of the most competitive available to electrical contractors, with assessors offering help and friendly advice to existing and new applicants.
