Visual heat indicators on PlugGrip and SwitchGrip confirm if there is a wiring problem (05/11/2008)
The PlugGrip provides a quicker and safer way to wire and install outlets. Its handle keeps fingers out of the way, while controlling stiff wires and reducing wiring time. As an added safety feature, the PlugGrip has independent power warning lights.
The SwitchGrip is used to install single pole and 3-way switches. It has a 12g-14g wire stripper and bender built into the handle along with an AC warning light and audible buzzer.
The PlugGrip and SwitchGrip have new visual heat indicators on the face of each hand tool. When the tools are attached to an outlet or switch that is outside of normal operating temperature, the face of the tools changes colors to indicate a wiring problem. The user can then investigate further.
“Our goal continues to be making the task of working with outlets and switches safe and easy” said PlugGrip inventor, Bryan Cahill. “We have added to our line of tools, outlet and switch heat indicators. This addition gives the homeowner or professional electrician a faster and safer way to determine if there is an unsafe wiring condition by detecting the heat the wiring device gives off.”
Bryan added, “There are thousands of cases where the knowledge of an outlet or switch giving off heat could have prevented a lot of personal and property damage from fire. The PlugGrip and SwitchGrip are hand tools that give anyone the assistance they need to check their outlets and switches for unsafe wiring conditions.”
