Carlo Gavazzi UK Ltd will be demonstrating the smart-house home automation system at the Grand Designs Live Show in Birmingham, 10-12th October 2008, on the Jetset Online stand. Both Jetset and Carlo Gavazzi have seen an increase in the demand for home automation and have come together to offer this solution for home automation applications. All aspects of the home can be monitored and controlled including lighting, heating, blinds and security.

Incorporated on the stand will be a working multi room sound system from Opus Technologies featuring their WCU600 touch screen. This has capacity for customisation and personalisation to suit individual requirements. The lighting on the stand will be controlled by Carlo Gavazzi’s smart-house technology demonstrating its ease of use and integration with the Opus touch screen. A presentation showing the full capabilities of smart-house will be playing on the stand for people who are new to the concept of home automation.

The Carlo Gavazzi smart-house home automation system provides a cost effective solution for automating any home. Wiring is simple because the same 2 wire bus that communicates between components also supplies them power. Popular features include lighting control where you can set scenes, activate lights by motion or light intensity. Blinds and curtains can open and close automatically at the end of each day and can be included in lighting scenarios. Heating can be controlled in individual rooms to save energy.

Dedicated detectors for smoke and intruders can be configured to make the house lights flash, sound an alarm and send a text message, water detectors can protect against flooding by shutting off the water supply to the house.

Automation can also be extended to the garden for path lighting, gate control, irrigation systems and swimming pool management. All aspects of the system can be controlled and viewed locally on wall mounted touch screens and high-end remote controls (Philips Pronto) or remotely by internet or mobile phone.

The new WCU600 from Jetset has an easy to read 3.5”, full colour backlit LCD touchscreen, which can be viewed from wide angles, to enable easy control of multiple features around the home including music, radio and video. Multiple features are available including a built-in clock radio and timer, the option to play the same music in every room and cueing movies. Content from iPods or MP3 players can also be watched through the units.

Each unit can be fully customised for fast access to the most frequently used functions and adapted to feature unique icons. Programming is completed via a concealed USB port on the front of the keypad for easy set-up and an Infrared connector allows the addition of external Infrared receivers to offer full remote control. The well-designed, flush faceplate is available in a number of different colour options to look stunning in any environment, and can be retrofitted to refresh and update existing systems.
