Professionals unprepared for new Protection against Lightning standards

September 2008 will see the biggest change in lightning protection standards for over 20 years, as the old BS 6651:1999 Protection against Lightning is finally withdrawn, to be fully replaced by BS EN 62305:2006.

Despite BS EN 62305:2006 Protection against Lightning being introduced two years ago, there is evidence that many professionals are unprepared for the scale and depth of the new standard.
